UK puts Turkey on the ‘Red List’

The Government’s transport secretary Grant Shapps has announced Turkey has been put on the Red List, meaning anyone travelling from the country will have to pay and carry out government monitored hotel quarantine…

English residents will be able to use their NHS Health app to access their vaccination status from 17 May – or can request a letter.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps says we’ve made “huge progress” this year but we’re not at the end.

He says it’s important we don’t risk that success now.

Mr Shapps says there is a concern about a resurgence of COVID so the only route out is “careful and prudent, a responsible one”.

Shapps has said to those looking to book a holiday to any green list country ensure they only book a holiday that offers refunds that cover Covid-related changes.

He also warned travellers to expect delays at airports.

Who is on the Green List?

12 countries including Portugal, Gibraltar and Isreal are on the Green List, Mr Shapps says.

Travellers will be received to take a PCR test pre-flight and on the 2nd day of your return.

Popular EU countries in the Amber List

France, Spain, Greece have not made it onto the green list.

They will be on the amber list – so 10 days of quarantine when you return to the UK.

More countries added to the Red List

Turkey, the Maldives and Nepal added to Red List.
