Turkish man jailed after £3m worth of heroin found in Enfield

TWO men have been jailed for a total of almost 30 years after £3million worth of heroin was seized from an address in Enfield.

Mehmet Yucetas, 47 and Paul Hinds were sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 23 April having previously been convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and failure to disclose pin codes to protected information held within encrypted mobile phones.

Hinds was sentenced to 14 years and three months imprisonment and Yucetas to 15 years’ imprisonment.

While the search was being carried out at Hinds home where 30 kilograms of heroin was found, officers noticed Yucetas approaching the address. He was detained and found to have a similar encrypted mobile device as Hinds.

A search at Yucetas’ home address recovered further evidence of drug supply. Mobile phone analysis established the two men had organised the heroin to be delivered to Hinds’ address in the early hours of 23 August 2019.

Paul Hinds

The jury heard evidence from a drugs expert estimating the seizure to be worth over £3 million in street value terms.

Serious Crime Prevention Orders were granted against both men, restricting their use of mobile phones, preventing their association and limiting their financial capabilities once released from prison.
