3 million people vaccined in London

Three million Londoners have received a Covid jab as the capital today moved close to its first day without a virus death in more than six months.

Official figures this afternoon will confirm that more than three million first jabs have been administered, speaking with the Evening Standard Health Sceaty Matt Hancock reveals the milestone.

Saying: “The vaccine is saving lives and it is phenomenal that three million first doses have been given in London. Thank you to everyone involved in the roll-out across the city.

“Londoners have shown incredible spirit this past year and I urge you all to keep going as we cautiously ease restrictions and get closer to normal life.”

The capital is scheduled to vaccinate half its adult population by the end of the Easter holidays.
