Changes afoot for Haringey park

Work is underway to regenerate Tottenham’s Hartington Park.

The £79,000 scheme will focus on three key areas of the park near Bruce Grove.

Educational and environmental features will be installed, including a human sundial. Wildflower meadows will also be planted and seating will be put in place.

The work is being led by Groundwork London and is expected to be complete by the end of November.

Groundwork London’s programme manager Sandra Hoisz said: “These improvements will benefit the whole community and we anticipate they will help to kick start a new level of involvement with, and use of, this previously underused space.”

Haringey Council cabinet member for environment, Cllr Stuart McNamara, said: “We are delighted that work is getting under way to rejuvenate Hartington Park. Haringey Council is committed to providing high-quality green space to our residents.”

Funding for the work has been granted by Haringey Council, which has awarded £40,000, and The Veolia Environmental Trust, which has awarded £38,500.
