Turkish Cypriot Cultural Association, which carries out activities in the Hackney sharing the “Happy Life Project” with the public.
The project, which appeals to people over 50 living in the Hackney area, offers the opportunity to socialize and make new friendships for those who experience loneliness.
Gülnur Salih, the project coordinator said: ‘‘If you want your days to be more joyful and happy, we also invite you to our tea days and bus trips, which will start to meet new friends and socialize. You can now join our WhatsApp group by calling us.
This service is for men and women aged 50 and over living in Hackney. “Happy Life Project” will not only conduct surveys trying to understand loneliness problems but also offer some activities that will enable you to socialize and make new friendships.”
Adding: “During the Covid-19 pandemic period, we tried to support our members by conducting video meetings from WhatsApp group and Zoom. During this period, we shared as much information as possible about Covid 19 virus, vaccines and tests. We have sent dry food packages to our community and our project participants as a New Year’s Eve gift to people aged 65 and over. By conducting frequent surveys, we determined their needs and tried to find solutions to their problems.”
