In a statement a heard of the 2021 census by British Alevi Federation(BAF) chairman İsrafil Erbil shared that online Alevi will be an option in the faith section.
BAF who have been campaigning since last summer to have Alevism recognised in the census applied to have Alevi as faith and it has been accepted on the online application forms saying: “We have applied for the acceptance of Alevism as “belief” in the censuses with a petition recently. In the census to be held in 2021, Alevism will be seen as an option in the other part of the online official forms as an option. In printed forms, the other option should be selected and the letters A L E V I should be coded in the lower part. It is extremely important for us to participate in the census and to write Alevi in the section of faith so that our voices are louder and that we can reach the services we deserve more easily. For this reason, we aim to reach all our lives with the “participation in the 2021 census campaign” that we started.”

Adding that “You can find all the support you need to participate in the census on our social media pages, or by calling us or applying to our centres in person. In this issue, which is a very important step in the war of existence we have waged for centuries, let’s be one voice together, let’s make our existence known to the whole world.”
