Nearly 5,000 people have been vaccinated TRNC

THE Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Health Minister Ali Pilli on Tuesday announced that close to 5,000 people have been vaccinated had been administered in North Cyprus.

Pilli said that 4944 people received Sinovac’s vaccine while 24 people received the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine. Pilli announced that all those working at state and private hospitals have been vaccinated and next in line are those who are 65 years old and over who are willing to get vaccinated.

The first batch of BioNTech-Pfizer vaccines was sent by the EU was sent on Monday 18 January, a total of 1080 doses of the vaccines were reserved. Last Thursday, January 14, Turkey sent 20,000 dosages of the 20,000 China’s Sinovac vaccine.

5 different locations have been set up across the north of the island where the vaccines are being administered, and online form on the government website for over 65 who want the vaccine has been set up as they get the vaccine progress underway.

As of Tuesday 19 January, 23 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed through local transmission, 56 people were currently receiving treatment at the pandemic hospital while another 181 people were being kept under observation at pandemic hotels.

Since the start of the pandemic, 11 people have lost their lives to coronavirus in the TRNC.
