Coronavirus claims 5 more members of the Turkish Speaking Community

The total number of coronavirus cases in the UK has approached 1.5 million, with over 55,000 deaths recorded since the start of the pandemic.

According to the information obtained by the Londra Gazete, 5 known members of the Turkish Speaking Community in London have died in the last two weeks due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Imam and the President of the Cyprus Islamic Society, Hüseyin Haşim El Bakayi and the funeral manager of the Süleymaniye Mosque, Muzaffer Bey, who has been mobilizing the Turkish-speaking community in the UK to fight the virus, spoke to the Londra Gazete about the pass of more of the Turkish-speaking community member to Covid-19.

Suleymaniye Mosque, the funeral director Muzaffer spoke with us saying that one of the members that have passed originated from Turkey, while one of the members who lost their lives was from the Turkish Cypriot community. Stating that coronavirus has spread rapidly from person to person and has become a pandemic in a very short time, Muzaffer Bey said, ‘There is an increase in coronavirus cases worldwide and in our country. It is vital to be careful about the symptoms, avoid contact, fully comply with the measures for isolation and protection,” he said.

Stating that deaths from Covid-19 are very high among Cypriots living in the UK, especially in March and April, El Bakayi said in a statement to us that despite the lcokdown, coronavirus positive cases continue to increase rapidly across the UK.

Stating that 3 Turkish Cypriots died in the last two weeks wee a result of coronavirus, El Bakayi added that 2 Turkish Cypriots died a month ago. El Bakayi made the following statement: ‘‘ There has been no Turkish Cypriot who died due to the virus since May, but two of my citizens succumbed to the virus a month ago. We do not share names because of the sensitivity and pain of the families, our two citizens who died a month ago due to the virus were male and one was only 48 years old. In the last two weeks, 3 of our citizens died due to coronavirus. Our pain is great, let’s obey the rules, let’s not let go of the measures. For health, for all of us. ”
