Acclaimed Turkish Cypriot poet Beste Sakallı delighted her fans on Friday with a performance in Stoke Newington.
Beste Sakallı paid a visit to Londra Gazete this week
Ms Sakallı, who is in London as the guest of Ertanç Hidayettin and Ayşe Gül, promoted her latest book “Dip”, while Ms Gül performed English translations of her work.
“I enjoy writing about and sharing the aspects of life that affect me,” Ms Sakallı said. “I want to share them before their effects are lost, while they are still upon me. I believe this will make it more genuine and realistic.
“That is how Dip came into being.”
Ms Sakallı also gave members of the audience the opportunity to perform their own poetry and later answered questions directed to her.
Afterwards, the Rembetiko musical group took to the stage.
Ms Sakallı had paid a visit to the offices of Londra Gazete earlier in the day.
