Haringey Police and Enfield Police will be merging

THE Metropolitan Police Service has declared that the Haringey police and Enfield police will merge as from next year.

It has been announced there will be changes to the means of local policing delivered to the members of the public throughout London. There will be an establishment of Basic Command Units (BCUs).

BCU is a bigger police command unit whereby it will replace the Met’s current 32 borough model, by incorporating local policing in boroughs to formulate 12 BCUs.

This will mean that as from January 2019 Haringey police and Enfield Police will be merging.

As joining together BCU will continue to provide all the primary elements of policing which is currently ongoing. Thus this will not mean that there will be less officers out on the streets.

PC Matthew Fletcher stated:

“It’s a change of how we are organised and it is expected that the changes visible to the public will be small and gradual. The changes that are made will improve the service we are able to provide to the public.”
