The victorious Turkish Cypriot councillors at last month’s elections were hosted by Oya Tuncalı at a meal held in their honour.

Ms Tuncalı, who is the Turkish Cypriot representative to London, said the councillors were a source of pride for the community in Britain and congratulated all 16 councillors who have Cypriot origins.
She added that her offices would be in constant collaboration with the councillors and that there shared objective was ensuring the community’s voice is well heard in the UK.
Also speaking at the event were the Enfield councillors Doğan Delman, who spoke as the most experienced Conservative member, and Ayfer Orhan, the Labour member with the most years to her name.
