Turkish women go for Fuchs

Maviş Fuchs was re-elected to the leadership of the Association of Turkish Women in the UK last week.

The association’s annual general meeting held in Troy Hotel began with a moment of silence for the victims of the Soma mining disaster.

Under the leadership of Servet Hassan, Olcay Jenning and Ayla Derya, it read the activity and financial reports before voting on changes to the constitution. Ms Fuchs was subsequently elected to lead the association in its 14th term.

It is the third time in office for Ms Fuchs, who previously served in the 11th and 13th terms. She will be assisted on the board by Funda Aksanoğlu, Sevgül Özkor, Deniz Harput, Burcu Köstem and Betül Ekrem.

Ms Fuchs has lived in the UK for the last twelve years and spent time in Saudi Arabia, Swizterland, Austria and Germany because of her husband’s work. The mother of two adult children, Fuchs speaks English and German.
