Grenfell authorities’ reaction ‘badly flawed’

A report has outlined that a “badly flawed” comeback by the authorities to the Grenfell Tower fire has resulted in a damage which “has been difficult to repair.”

The Muslim Aid report also underlined that there was not much co-ordination as residents made homeless due to the Grenfell fire.

The authority estimates about 4,000 new front doors will be needed, at a cost of around £3.5m.

It was claimed that a day after the fire no council helpline has been organised, thus, numerous charities established their own to overcome the gap.

“The consequences of the disaster were compounded by the weak leadership of the response initially led by the local council, which was slow to provide direction, , and information and to address multiple pressing needs,” the report asserted.

It notified the tragedy could occur again “at a time when the frequency of disasters in the UK is likely to increase due to climate change, vulnerability to terror attacks and the inherent risks of life in crowded, unequal cities”.
