Sadıq Khan

MILLIONS of Muslims around the world marked the start of Ramadan on Wednesday, a month of intense prayer, dawn-to-dusk fasting and nightly feasts.

The Leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn and Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and shared their warm wish on Ramadan to Londra Gazete.

Jeremy Corbyn

Leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn:

“I wish all Muslim people across our country and the world Ramadan Mubarak.

Ramadan is a time for Muslims to renew their faith and strengthen their resolve to do better for themselves and their communities. But it is also a time of reflection.

We reflect on the horror of rising Islamophobia and remember that we are always stronger when we work together.

I know many mosques will again be opening their doors to look after the homeless and hungry people, as they do every year. We all have something to learn from Ramadan.

I hope everyone will come together with members of the Muslim community at this special time, to join in the festivities.

Ramadan Mubarak, and peace be unto you all.”

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan:

“As-salam alaykum.

I’d like to wish everyone in London and around the world observing Ramadan a peaceful and blessed month. Ramadan is a time when we remind ourselves of the values of empathy, compassion and charity.

It’s a moment to come together – not only with our friends and families, but with our neighbours and communities. This Ramadan, I’m looking forward to strengthening the bonds between our communities because in London, we are proud to respect, celebrate and embrace our differences. And I look forward to welcoming all Londoners to Eid in the Square at the end of Ramadan.

From my family to yours: Ramadan Mubarak!”
