Enfield Morrison’s fined over mice infestation

A Morrison’s store located in Enfield has been fined up to £100,000 as a result of a food hygiene inspector noticed it was infested with mice.

The Morrison’s branch in the corner of Southbury Road and the Great Cambridge Road, was unsuccessful to peruse the convenient action to tackle the problem regardless of having to contact pest control on many situations.

Food hygiene inspectors dropped by the store in March last year and noticed droppings around the bread plant machine in the bakery. Pest control reports asserted that a mouse has been found in the café, and inspectors also found dropping around the fizzy drinks dispensing machine.

After failing to take the follow up action, on April 24 Morrison pleaded guilty to the two breaches of relegations.

Morrison has been fined £100,000 and directed to pay costs of £56,601.03 also a victim surcharge of £120.

Cabinet member for environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: “It is utterly appalling that such a large and established retailer could act so recklessly so as allow foodstuffs to be stored in a completely unhygienic manner… Enfield Council takes a dim view of such behavior…”
