THE TURKISH Cypriot Democracy Association, a Turkish Cypriot organisation based in the UK, shared a press release in regards to recent developments in Northern Cyprus and the attack on the Afrika newspaper.
In a press statement shared by the Turkish Cypriot Democracy Association’s chairman Derman Saraçoğlu, stated that they would be in contact with international platforms regarding events on the Island and called for peace and unity.
Saraçoğlu said: “In view of the recent attacks, the Turkish Cypriot community is inevitably at the stage of a roadblock. Along with recent events, where the destination is to be reached at the end of the journey to date, it has begun to be seen much more clearly in wider and diverse community segments.
We are now at the point where we come back to international platforms and on the Island is our uncompromising defensive time against all kinds of attacks, regardless of where and how we come from our social rights, our basic human rights originated from the Republic of Cyprus. There is no other way to protect the social assets of the Turkish Cypriots on the island. The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has personally taught the Turkish Cypriot community that a second salvation and freedom path has not been found in today’s situation in which our society has been dragged into the mindless politics of Ankara for years.”
