Day-Mer Culture and Arts Festival’s 4th year hosted many different events as one of them saw a special panel under the name “An analysis of the aftermath of UK general elections”.
Attending to the panel as speakers, were Chris Bough from Public and Commercial Services, Lindsey German from Stop the War Coalition, NUT President Louise Regan, Morning Star Editor Ban Chacko and Day-Mer secretary Oktay Şahbaz.
Oktay Şahbaz, speaking at the event, tackled the latest terror attack events and the inflicted misery amongst people who live in the UK.
“The latest incidents that happened in London Bridge, Manchester, Finsbury Park and the fire Grenfell plainly demonstrates the weakness of the government and none of governmental statement has ever successfully satisfied the society. We all know that the Prime Minister Theresa May had called the general election to surpass her own power however has failed to obtain certain power. Jeremy Corbyn on the other hand, has gained the society’s trust.”
Lindsey German, on the other hand said:
“I don’t think finding democracy in election series that are made once in five years. I believe the real democracy shall be conveyed by labourers and workers. I think Theresa May better think of resignation following her big failure after this general election.
PCS General Secretary Chris Bough, then stated that Corbyn’s victory in the result of this general election is very important. NUT President Louise Regan also tackled the worrying propositions from the government that suggests privatisation of education.
