She was joined by Birikim Özgür, an MP from her Republican Turkish Party (CTP) who represents Nicosia, to discuss the latest situation in Cyprus, the peace process, her UK contacts thus far and the situation of Cypriots living in Britain.

Ms Siber said during that meeting that also the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was not recognised as a state, there were two communities on Cyprus and the Turkish community was recognised. She said the elected representatives of this community needed to be heard – including herself, as speaker of an elected parliament.

The meeting, hosted at the Radisson Blu Hotel by CTP London Solidarity Association president Gizem Utkan and secretary Direnç Özbarış, was also attended by Cemal Arkut, İlker Kılıç, Hulus İbrahim, Kamil Ahmet, Hasan Raif, Mehmet Özerge and Cavit Kırıkyalı.
