Turkish jobs fair next month

A jobs fair exclusively aimed at the Turkish community is to be held in Enfield next month.

The Careers, Jobs and Training Fair will give jobseekers advice on self-employment and franchises. The event will also feature training opportunities, listings for local jobs and careers, and apprenticeships on offer.

Tahsin Ibrahim, a Enfield councillor and the coordinator of Ebra, the Enfield Business & Retailers Association, said Turkish and Kurdish entrepreneurs had made a contribution to the local economy in a way that could not be ignored.

He said the latest census had shown 9.2 per cent of Enfield’s population was Turkish-speaking as a first language but that he believed the true figure was much higher.

“That is why business efforts need to be developed and we must support employment in the area.”

The fair will be held at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, 73 Hertford Road, Enfield EN3 5HA, on Tuesday 8th April, between 10am and 3pm. Londra Gazete has confirmed it will be the main media sponsor for the event.

Firms interested in opening a stand at the event – or those who want to take part and examine career opportunities – are asked to contact Tahsim Ibrahim on 020 8804 4775 or tahsin.ibrahim@ebra.org.uk.
