Britain Turkish Islam Culture Centre, launched a charity bazaar (hayır çarşısı) for the sake of education charity (eğitim vakfı). The charity bazaar that took place at the Suleymaniye Mosque last Friday lasted for the full weekend, presented the delicious home-made selections for the taste of the guests. Briefing the community of the significance and description of the bazaar, the organisation responsible Mehmet Yılmaz said:
“Charity bazaars are inevitable in our culture as it stands for promoting thankfulness, goodness and helping each other. It intertwines the wills of both helping and coming together for solidarity and growing as a community. Therefore, every charity bazaar enables its guests to socialise and make friends, find the solidarity in a somewhat hopeless place and move on. This, is absolutely a precious cultural value to hold on to”
SULEYMANIYE MOSQUE OPEN DAYS
Suleymaniye Culture Mosque spokespeople also mentioned that they were utterly pleased for the high volume of interest for the bazaar.
“The ongoing visits from different cultures made us believe that we should continue pursuing this bazaar and our charitable enterprises” said Mr Yılmaz. Organising a series of open days, the mosque also provided “Q&A” sessions for the people who had questions regarding the religion, values and culture.
