Turkish Republic’s Parliament’s (TBMM) 96th Anniversary was remembered in London, with the participation of retired Turkish admiral Turker Erturk, tackling Turkey’s current situation along with referring to global issues. The event included many question and answer sessions along with presentations.

UK Ataturk idealism union (ADD) was joined by admiral Erturk, for topics dedicated to TBMM’s standpoint as being one of the first “castles” that resisted Imperialism in the history. The event that took place in Wood Green, North London on 22 April Friday, accommodated tens of people participating. The opening speech was done by the organisation’s president Jale Ozer, by her answering questions along with declaring her complaints on Turkish Airline’s non-inclusion of 23rd April-related stories in its magazine, SkyLife. Ms Turker accused Turkish Airlines with treachery by giving examples from the United States and its commitment to every 4th of July.

Admiral Erturk, in his speech, remarked the preciousness of freedom and sovereignty by saying “darkness can never beat the light!”. By giving Adolf Hitler’s life an exemplar of a possible ending to the current Turkish government, Turker said “Who could say that Hitler would end up in such a terrible way? Considering he had so much power back in the days, but what happened will repeat again for Turkey this time, this government will have to pay”. Continuing his speech Turker remarked that just because the current Turkish government holds the majority’s voting doesn’t make them reign over on society. Giving examples from sexual assaults’ increasing numbers in Turkey, Admiral Turker said “It has gone down below the moral standards”.

Erturk also tackled Turkey’s international situation along with the current imperial impositions that the worlds is under, by giving examples from both past and present. After his speech a plaque was given to Admiral Erturk for thankfulness.
