The general assembly meeting of the British Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi was held where members elected İbrahim Has as the sole chair for the new term.
Has was previously severed as a co-chairperson with Filiz Koç during the last term elected, this year’s AGM was held at the AKMC headquarters in Wood Green. Calls for unity and struggle were made with the reading and voting of the financial and activity reports.
The list led by İbrahim Has was successful in the elections. Former heads of cemevis, former president of the British Alevi Federation (BAF), Israfil Erbil, co-chairs Dilek İncedal and Müslim Dalkılıç, representatives of local associations, members and Alevi citizens attended the General Assembly. While İbrahim Has’s white list won the election with 152 votes, Mustafa Sivas’s green list received 90 votes and Hüseyin Kaplan’s red list 67 votes.
İbrahim Has, who assumed the presidency for a year, said: “I would like to express my gratitude to you, who attended this congress and took care of our institution, and to all my friends who took part in this path and put effort. We have no doubt that the friends selected by our Congress to serve in the upcoming term will serve wholeheartedly. Our biggest goal is to keep our entire society under the roof of our institution, to strengthen the bond between institutions, to be together, to act together.” Filiz Koç, the first female co-chair of the British Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi, also wished success to the new administration.
