THE British Alevi Federation (BAF) commemorated those who marched to God in the earthquake disaster with a ceremony. It has been over 40 days since the Maraş and Hatay-centered earthquake disaster. Fresh water and shelter continue to be the first basic need in the earthquake region where the needs of the citizens are still not met.
On the 40th day of the earthquake disaster, commemorations were held in many centres. In the Samandağ district of Hatay, women walked with basil branches in their hands and said, “We are not leaving, we are here, we do not forgive”, while commemorations were held in Adıyaman, Maraş and Malatya, and those who walked towards God were commemorated.
In England, under the leadership of BAF, citizens came together and commemorated the citizens who marched towards God. BAF co-chairs Dilek İncedal, Müslüm Dalkılıç and committee members, local association members and dozens of citizens attended the commemoration held at the BAF campus.
BAF co-chairs Equal Dilek İncedal and Müslüm Dalkılıç made speeches. Pointing out that the government did not fulfill its responsibility and that tens of thousands of citizens lost their lives due to the rent-based construction, the equal presidents said that the Alevis and non-governmental organizations gave great support to the citizens.
The London Fire Brigade officer and the members of the British Parliament commemorated those who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster and stated that they would support the citizens to heal the wounds.
