The Turkish Woman Philanthropic Association (TWPA) organized tea to help the earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria on Sunday 26 February.
Many women participated in the tea held at the association’s building in North London and rolled up their sleeves to help earthquake victims. Members in the week following the earthquakes on February 6 turned their headquarters into a drop-off point, collecting donations and packages of hundred of boxes which were sent to the affected regions.
Now turned their effectors to raising donations and the afternoon tea event where the entire donation was collected as the forces now move to the long-term support for the affected. Over £1,100 was raised at the afternoon tea event.
TWPA President Seyyare Beyzade, in her speech thanking the attendees of the aid tea, expressed her condolences to Turkey and expressed her deep sorrow for more than 45 thousand people who lost their lives and more than hundreds of thousands of injured. Pointing out that it will take a long time for earthquake survivors to regain their old life patterns, Beyzade said, “We will always be with them. We wish you all peace, comfort, courage and lots of love at this sad time.”
