OSMAN Koray Ertaş, the special adviser to the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, has been appointed as Turkey’s Ambassador to London.
Ertaş will be taking over from Ümit Yalçın had previously stated that he would retire following the end of his term as Turkey’s Ambassador to London.
Graduating from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations in 1996, going on gain his master’s degree in “European Studies” at the University of Sussex in 1997. He is currently continuing his doctoral studies on the Muslim Turkish Minority of Bulgaria in the field of Conflict Analysis and Resolutions at George Mason University.
Ertaş joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997. They held various positions, becoming the became ministry of foreign deputy chief of staff in 2005-2007, and in 2007-2008, this time he assumed the role of deputy director of the presidential private office.
Between 2008-2011, he was the undersecretary of the Washington Embassy. He was appointed as the Deputy Director General of Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2011, became a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Board in 2012, and served as the Chief of Staff of the President with the title of Ambassador between 2011 and 2014.
He served as the Bucharest Embassy of the Republic of Turkey from 2014 to 2018. As of 2019, he is the special adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. He was also appointed as a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Board.
