“I am so accustomed… Should these breads get wasted? Some of the bread is very tough sometimes… I wet them and take them to birds to the park … A lot of birds are eating … Sometimes the police see me and tell me off. Apparently, the birds are dirtying the place that’s why they don’t want me to throw bread. The birds are filthy they do not want the park to throw bread. I do not listen … I’ve always fed the birds for the past 30 years as much as my strength takes.”

BAD news often darkens our minds and our belief that the world is getting worse every day is increasing. When we say “are there no good people left anymore?” and then suddenly see help or witness something nice, gives us hope to hang on to life.

And how wonderful it is to live in a world where such people are. In the last days, on Facebook group with some 20,000 members consisting of communities in Turkey (The London Turkish Meetup) sharing issued has seen a lot of interest. Aksaray’s Uncle Ramadan from London’s story was shared gain many likes and comments.

Share post; For about 30 years, uncle Ramadan would go to the bakery to pick up unsold bread with his market cart and would leave it around a mosque for those in need to take it after their prayers.

WHO IS UNCLE RAMADAN?

Ramazan Doğan, first opened his eyes to the world in Akhisar village of Aksaray in 1934, came to London in 1971. For a long-time Uncle Ramazan, worked with the well-known Cypriot businessman for a long time and was well known around t in the Stoke Newington area. We asked uncle Ramadan why he has religiously been bringing unsold bread to the Aziziye Mosque for the past 30 years and why he is doing such good deed. He replied:

“I am so accustomed … Should these breads get wasted? Some of the bread is very tough sometimes… I wet them and take them to birds to the park … A lot of birds are eating … Sometimes the police see me and tell me off. Apparently, the birds are dirtying the place that’s why they don’t want me to throw bread. The birds are filthy they do not want the park to throw bread. I do not listen … I’ve always fed the birds for the past 30 years as much as my strength takes.”

We visited uncle Ramadan at the mosque, where we were greeted by his son, son-in-law, his nephew and grandson. We learn that our sweet uncle has 6 children and 30 grandchildren, as we chat with each other individually, we hear different stories from them. He nephew said, “We spent the most beautiful holidays with Ramadan at his home” and his son-in-law says, “Everyone who comes from Aksaray visits Ramadan and kisses his hand and his not just loved in London, but also in the village of Aksaray. “From here he will always pack two or three suitcases and will bring it to the village with my late mother to give away. That’s why everybody knows them as helpful people. ”

When uncle Ramadan 84 lost his wife two years ago he was shaken by the lost, but his strong ties with his family have kept happy and he someone many people around him look up to. It was clear to see and hear that Uncle Ramadan is loved by all the children and grandchildren around. Here at Londra Gazete we wish him a healthy life and his aid will return him with happiness and reward.
