When two people meet, they meet and they meet especially for a reason. A little girl trips and falls in the playground, so another little girl reaches out her hand dusts off her knee and asks if she’s okay.. That trip and fall right there is enough, the reaching out of the hand is help and the dusting off of the knee is the start of one the most important relationships we can have in life.. Friendship.
Friendship is something so special that we sometimes seem to take it for granted, it’s a special gift that God has blessed us with and one of the ones that is more precious than we are aware of. Friendship is something that grows over time and is full of surprises, good, bad, small and big. The reality of friendship isn’t that it lasts for a lifetime, more like it doesn’t. One thing to remember is that no matter what happens, whether that friendship ends or lasts for a lifetime you will always have learned a lesson by the end of it… It could mean that you learn not to have those type of friends again or even that their time has come to walk out of your life.
I’ve had a lot of friendships, they are probably the most common, enjoyable and hurtful relationships which have been part of my life. From primary school to university and work to online.. Each one has taught me something, majority of them have fizzled out. At this point in my life, I can certainly count my true friends on two hands, here or abroad each one of them are incredibly special and important to me. I hope and pray that all last for whatever’s left of my lifetime. So what’s the definition of friendship in official terms, according to Wikipedia the meaning is “Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. Friendship is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association.” In the last month or two I’ve formed some great friendships, both here and abroad and at the same time have allowed a few friendships to end and leave my life.. Remember that nobody is tied to you and they don’t have to be either. Life’s experiences will change people, yet if you aren’t able to understand this you will struggle, you will notice distance and when you question this, you certainly won’t be happy with the answer. Look inside yourself from time to time and maybe think where you might be going wrong, not where they are, you might surprise yourself.
As I write this, it’s a very special girl’s birthday.. She, Silanur, Happy birthday beautiful girl, you’re amazing and I’m blessed to have met you!
Thank you to all have the friendships I’ve had till today, to those of you who are still in my life since the last 20 or so years thank you, to those who have come in recently and are making me happy and being there for me thank you to you too and thank you to the ones who have left, you’ve taught me more than you know…
