DAY-MER will host a timely and thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Political Struggles in Turkey and the UK” as part of its ongoing commitment to raise awareness and promote dialogue around key political and social issues affecting both countries.
The panel will bring together a diverse group of speakers, including Sevda Karaca, MP for the Labour Party of Turkey (EMEP); Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North; Okan Konuralp, MP for the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Turkey; Louise Regan, a National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the National Education Union (NEU); and Aslı Gül, President of DAY-MER.
Taking place in London on Friday 4 July, the discussion will explore the challenges facing workers, trade unions, and marginalised communities in both Turkey and the UK. From ‘democratic backsliding and press freedom to austerity and the erosion of workers’ rights, the panel aims to shed light on the shared struggles of people on both sides of the border’.
This event forms part of DAY-MER’s festival programme and will be taking place at 22 Moorefield Road, N17 6PY at 7pm.
On Sunday 6th July the 36th park festival will be held, rounding off their month long festival programme, the event is open to all at Clissold Park from 2pm till 7.30pm.
