The traditional Ali Rıza Değirmencioğlu Knowledge Competition, held among schools across the UK that offer Turkish Language and Culture classes, marked its 30th anniversary this year with a spirited and joyful event.
Hosted by the Ali Rıza Değirmencioğlu Turkish School, which also lends its name to the competition, the event welcomed 11 participating schools from various regions of the country.
Jointly organized by the Turkish Republic (T.C.) London Embassy’s Education Attaché and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Education Office in London, the event was held in a lively and celebratory atmosphere.
Out of a total of 20 questions posed during the quiz, the top-performing schools were:
1st Place: Exeter Diyanet Mosque Turkish Supplementary School – 180 points
2nd Place: ICMG Margate Turkish Supplementary School – 170 points
3rd Place: Ali Rıza Değirmencioğlu Turkish School – 140 points
Trophies were awarded to the top three schools, while students received medals and various prizes. Participation certificates were also given to all student competitors.
