International Women’s Day was celebrated in Reading, UK, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with an energetic concert by artist Zeyno Durar at the Coley Park Community Centre.
The event highlighted solidarity among women and the arrival of spring, as Zeyno Durar performed a blend of Turkish and Kurdish songs from Mesopotamia and Anatolia. Her renditions of Sezen Aksu’s Ünzile, folk songs by Neşet Ertaş, and Kurdish pieces such as Şerîna min, Qumrike, and Wehar received great acclaim.
During the concert, Durar’s daughter, Rengin, joined her on stage for a duet of Sezen Aksu’s Aldatıldık, earning a big round of applause from the audience.
Durar was accompanied by Levent Canen on bağlama, Erdal Yapıcı on guitar, Kaan Yol on percussion, and Minor Atabek on violin.
