London to mark 2 years since the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye.
A memorial event is being held in London for those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake.
The British Alevi Federation, the British Pazarcik Association, El Com and the Göksunlular Solidarity and Culture Association are organising an event to commemorate those who lost their lives on the anniversary of the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake.
The commemoration programme will take place on the evening of Thursday 6 February at the British Alevi Federation. At the event, prayers will be read for those who lost their lives in the earthquake and messages of solidarity will be given. While inviting all citizens to the commemoration ceremony, the organisers emphasised that such great disasters should not be forgotten and solidarity should be strengthened.
Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes The February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes occurred with two major earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 that caused great destruction in southeastern Türkiye, as well a neighbouring Syria.
While the earthquakes centred in Kahramanmaraş caused heavy damage in 11 provinces, more than 50 thousand people lost their lives and millions of people were affected. Hundreds of thousands of buildings were destroyed, of thousands of people were killed.
