LONDON-BORN Turkish artist Mert Değirmendereli has released his new song “Salma”.
The young artist, who has achieved successful works over the years, has mentioned his talent by participating in television, music videos, commercials and various projects.
Taking part in the TV series ‘Cucumber & Banana’ on Channel 4 – E4, the UK’s leading television channel in 2015, Değirmendereli has acted as well as working with famous names and brands such as Jessie J, Pixie Lott, Yolande be cool, Ellie Goulding and Vivienne Westwood.
Speaking about his new song, Değirmendereli stated: “Salma is a sinister, alluring track. The heart of the song is built around a sampled vocal melody which hints at my Turkish heritage & Morricone. It is the gentle innocence, sometimes cheeky, leading you through, juxtaposed against the sinister harshness. Lyrically/melodically it lures you in, then attacks. Telling a tale of sweet deception, the songs title simply an allusion to its namesake, its true nature is revealed only when it’s too late.
MERTDER (Silent T) is a dark and exciting new take on electronic dance music, heavily inspired by London roots but not without a shade of Turkish heritage.
I debuting “Rampage” this year it gained traction, provoking Lithuanian DJ Jarośka to create two remixes he toured the festival circuit with.
Adding: ‘‘London was the perfect setting for me to fall in love with a variety of genres over the years. My music takes a few of them and dances, but it shows that the others are still there, but camouflaged, waiting to be found.”
